About Kari: Taking The First Step

Welcome to Wellness with Anxiety! Hi, my name is Kari, and I’m the ripe old age of 24. The age where a lot of people start to question what it is they want to do with themselves. And like a lot of people, first steps have always been such a daunting idea dangling in front of me. Add to that anxiety and depression, cue intrusive thoughts like “why bother” and “you won’t follow through anyways” or “it’ll never work out and it’ll be for nothing”, and this is a recipe for failure. This has led to many dead end attempts at hobbies, and even figuring out what I could truly enjoy for a career. Anxiety seems to have all but taken over my life.

This all started when I was 10 and diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks. It got better for a couple years with therapy (not currently going, but probably should be), but then life happened. I started to venture into adulthood with all it’s many “fun” responsibilities. I got my first job, my first paycheck, my first apartment, my first bills to pay. And over all it seemed nice for a while, until the newness and excitement wore off. Then the anxiety of it all hit me. I had to quit my first job of many, in part due to anxiety and in part due to other health issues, which left me with financial anxiety.

And as if I didn’t have enough on my plate, I also decided to start trying to conceive when I was 22. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 14, but didn’t really know what that would mean for my fertility at the time. I also have always been unable to swallow pills for as long as I can remember, which definitely makes things even more difficult. Fast forward 2 and half years (age 24), and I have learned the hard way the heartbreak that ensues after every failed attempt. Obviously, this has caused great stress on my mental and emotional state. I’m not getting any younger and time is running out. And so enters the anxiety that I will never be able to start a family and have the life I want.

In the midst of dealing with all this, I inevitably became what some would consider a hermit. Since childhood, I have always struggled to make and keep friends and feel a deep connection with people (most likely due to my social anxiety), and nothing has really changed since my transition to adulthood. To make matters worse, trying for a baby when all the people around you are having a successful time starting a family doesn’t encourage socializing, but instead unwanted jealousy and self-hatred (and of course you can’t forget anxiety to “keep up”).

Through it all, I have had my partner who is my rock and always steps up to the plate to support me, be it financially or mentally. And while I appreciate everything he has done and does do for me, he is only one person and does not know everything about anxiety, and even if he did I would not put all the responsibility on him to make me better. That just wouldn’t be fair to him or me. This is one of the main reasons I decided to create Wellness with Anxiety, so that I could stand on my own two feet and not only educate myself, but others as well on how to stay grounded with anxiety.

On my long journey with anxiety, I have had many ups and downs (more downs than ups), especially since as of late my coping mechanism has been to bury my head in the sand and hope it just goes away or that I can “save it for later”. But this obviously does not work in the long term, and has only led me down the slippery slope of becoming somewhat of a hypochondriac, developing OCD tendencies, and having constant burnout, which has turned into having anxiety about every little thing going on in my life. I have made small improvements in some areas of my life, like starting yoga/meditation, trying to get back on track with eating healthy, and experimenting with natural vitamins and supplements. But with Wellness with Anxiety, I hope to learn even more about anxiety so I can fully understand how it works and ways to overcome it in my daily life, and I hope it can help others dealing with similar hardships to heal as well.

As the age old saying goes, nothing in life that you truly want ever comes easy. And if you’re anything like me, you’re wanting to find emotional, mental, and even physical stability when it comes to your anxiety. So I hope for this to be not only my first official step to getting where I want to be with my wellness for anxiety, but also be the first step for any of you reading who want to take back control of your life.

My goal with Wellness with Anxiety is to help anyone struggling with any form of anxiety by providing knowledge and insight into what anxiety is all about (after all knowledge is power), and in finding the best product selection so everyone can conquer anxiety once and for all. I can’t wait to go on this journey with you as we learn all about anxiety, what it entails, and how to find wellness with anxiety.

Thanks so much for reading. I hope you have a slightly less anxious day than the last!

Anxiously, Kari

If you want to learn how to start your own affiliate website and business, even dealing with crippling anxiety like me, then check out the link below. Wealthy Affiliate has easy-to-follow, step-by-step training classes that even someone like me, who has constant brain fog and decision paralysis, followed with virtually no anxiety or stress. And even if and when the self-doubt hits, there is a network of 24/7 support offering invaluable advice and assistance in anything you need or have a question about. And don’t worry about feeling anxious when having to ask even the most “obvious” of questions (they’re not always obvious to everyone!), as the community is made up of judgmental-free REAL people who were once newbies too, so they know what you’re going through! There’s even a high chance that you will receive a response from one or both of the founders directly, as they tend to be very involved with the platform, especially with newcomers. Another anxiety-reducer is that they also value affordability, offering different levels of upgrades if and when you are ready to do so (including the option for monthly or yearly payments, and there is never any pressure to do so; it’s all at your own pace), and which can be canceled at any time with no extra charges. Compared to what other similar websites offer for lessons and how much you’ll be spending to learn this necessary information, Wealthy Affiliate definitely takes the cake for offering the absolute most for less. Wealthy Affiliate made me feel confident for literally the first time in my life (seriously, no exaggeration!) that I could follow through in making a career for myself and do what I love while helping connect with others who share similar experiences and interests. I have all the confidence that they can do the same for you, too!
